Teamsters Oppose SB 1014

As Union members, we must demand that our elected representatives understand and support our “Labor” values. In the state of Florida, our public sector workers are under attack and we are in the twelfth hour. On Tuesday, April 20th, the Florida Senate Rules Committee will hear Senate Bill 1014, a brazen attempt to strip Florida’s public sector workers of their constitutional rights. Senate Bill 1014 was originally focused on Florida’s educators, but an upcoming amendment to the bill would expand it to include the majority of Florida’s public sector workers.

Senate Bill 1014 is pure government overreach and it would put employers in charge of the unionization process for the first time in history. SB 1014 would also force the placement of language discouraging workers from joining a union on membership forms, prevent union members from having their dues deducted from their paychecks, and require public-sector unions to prove they represent half of their bargaining unit to maintain their certification. This bill is an all-out assault on the constitutional rights of the public sector heroes who have served our state and communities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic at a time when they deserve our thanks.

Union members across the state are calling their senators to tell them to vote NO on SB 1014 and you need to as well.

For more information, visit https://m.flsenate.gov/Bill/01014 and we have provided the following link to help put you in touch with your Senator.
